FUR COLD STORAGE:

Furs should be stored in a temperature & humidity controlled storage vault. Our cold storage vault is located on the premises of Douglas Furs (no notice required for pick-up). The temperature and humidity controlled UL certified cold storage vault will protect your fur from heat, humidity, insects (specificially moths) and direct light that can oxidize your fur. Cold storage is essential for maximizing the longevity of your fur.

CLEANING & RECONDITIONING:

Cleaning, glazing and reconditioning your fur should be done every year. The cleaning & reconditioning process removes loose hair, odors, soiling and maintains the sheen of your garment keeping it soft and pliable. The Fur Information Council Association also recommends cleaning & reconditioning your fur garments annually.

REPAIRS:

Our furriers and professional finishers will repair any fur, leather, and cloth damage from the smallest tear to replacement of complete sections, assuring that your valuable garment is handled with the care and respect equal to our own.

The smallest rips and tears can lead to the costly replacement of a complete pelt or section if not attended to properly. A small seam opening in your lining may lead to a tear, and the need for complete lining replacement. Our fur experts will be happy to inspect your furs and give you a free estimate if any repairs are required. Rips and tears should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent more expensive repairs later.

Avoid having your fur in direct light for long periods of time as this can cause it to oxidize.

Fur should only be covered for traveling not for storing.

If your fur gets wet, shake it gently and allow it to dry (away from heat). Once the fur is dry shake the fur again to fluff up the hair.
